Russian air cushion landing assault boot Project 1209 Omar 1979-1994


Serving in the Russian Black Sea Fleet. Called by the NATIO the Utenok-class of which just two were built. Called Morye and the Fedosia? The D-346 (hull numbers 571, 570, 572 and 519) built with yard number 602 was probably commissioned on 5 November 198- and decommissioned on 5 July 1994. The D-278 (hull numbers 575, 568, 574, 590 and 518) built with yard number 601 was probably commissioned on 31 December 1979 or in February 1980 and decommissioned on 19 March 1993. General technical specifications were a displacement of 42 (standard)-54,1 (full load) tons and as dimensions 23,3 x 11,8 x 0,9 metres. Maximum speed 60 knots and then a range of 200 nautical miles. Transport capacity was 160 military or 80 military and 8 smaller vehicles. Their crews numbered 7 men including 3 officers. The machinery consisted of 1-6.000 hp M-35 gas turbines. 1-20kW turbine-type generator driving 2 air propellers. The armament consisted of 1x2-12,7mm Utes machineguns and 1-3cm BP-30 Plamya grenade launcher. Likely was her design partly based on the Ivan Rogov-class. Intended to built an export variant (1209ME) and for the merchant shipping a passenger version (12092) and cargo boat (12093) were never realized.
