American Senate could not vote about naval issues due to absence of senator King according to the Dutch newspaper De Sumatra post dated 14 July 1924

An item reported that due to the obstruction of senator King (1)the Congress was not able to vote over the building of 8 scout cruisers and the conversion of some battleships from coal into oil fuelled. While there were none meetings on short notice, was the first possible voting no sooner than December.
