Australia seemed to be interested in building battleships according to the Dutch newspaper De Tribune dated 27 July 1935

An item dated Melbourne, Australia 26th referred to the Australian newspaper Melbourne Age which wrote that if the Naval Treaty of Washington was not renewed also Australia should be allowed to built battleships.
