Argentinean coastal defence ship Independencia ordered to protect harbour of Rosario according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwe Tilburgsche Courant dated 24 January 1907


An item reported that the [Argentinean] battleship Independencia (1) was sent towards Rosario [province Sana Fé] to protect the harbour while recently again strike riots broke out.

Building ordered in 1889, laid down at Cammell Laird, Birkenhead, England on 15 March 1890, launched on 26 February 1891, completed on 5 March 1892, commissioned on 1889, decommissioned in naval service in 1946, submarine tender 1946-1948, handed over to the cost guard in 1949, decommissioned in 1968 and sold to be broken up in 1969.
