American destroyer USS Sampson launched according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1916-1917 no. 5

An item referred to the Shipping Illustrated dated 11 March 1916 reporting that the American destroyer Samson was launched on 4 March with as dimensions 315 x 29.10 (maximum) x 18.9 feet. Machinery consisted of oil fuelled Curtis turbines and Yarrow boilers. In contrary against the preceding destroyers had she just two funnels and were he guns to be mounted on the forecastle.(1)

1. The USS Sampson (DD-63). Laid down by Fore River Shipbuilding Company on 21 April 1915, launched on 4 March 1916, commissioned on 27 June 1916, stricken on 7 January 1936 and sold to be broken up on 6 September 1936.
