An item referred to the Shipping Illustrated dated 11 March 1916 reporting that the American destroyer Samson was launched on 4 March with as dimensions 315 x 29.10 (maximum) x 18.9 feet. Machinery consisted of oil fuelled Curtis turbines and Yarrow boilers. In contrary against the preceding destroyers had she just two funnels and were he guns to be mounted on the forecastle.(1)
