An item reported that one of the two salt motor lighters ordered by the Opium- en Zoutregie at the Droogdok Maatschappij Soerabaja already one was commissioned. Since a month was this 400 tons lighter used on the regularly line Madoera-Bagan Se Api-Api. The 240 tons lighter was to be delivered in April and to be used on the line Kalianget-Semarang for the salt transport for mid Java. Motor ships in own service was cheaper than using the government shipping.
