German whaler Rau IX 1939-1948 (Krutt 1948-1960s) Rau IX again

Built by Deschimag, Werk Seebeck, Wesermünde, Germany in 1939 for account of Walter Rau Lebensmittelwerke GmbH as whaler for the whale factory ship.  Walter Rau which latter ship was completed for the hunting season 1937-1938 To late completed for the hunting season of 1939 taken over bu the German navy and commissioned as submarine chaser. Adter the Second World War used for minesweeping, in 1948 reconverted into a whaer and together with her mothership handed over to Norway as war repatrations. The Rau IX was renamed Krutt. When the whaling in the Antarctic was ending served se near Iceland and later of the Faroe Islands and finally end 1960 s laid up. Nowadys museumship. Gross register tonnage 380 tons and as dimensions 46,1 x 8,2 x 4,0 metres. Machinery consisted of 1-1.600hp triple expansion steam engine allowing with one screw a speed of 14 knots. Crew numbered 15 men.
