Cuban shipping company ordering new building by British shipyards according to the Dutch magazine Schip en Werf dated 16 September 1938

An item reported that two shipyards at Sunderland, England were ordered to built 6 cargo ships of 3.500-5.500 ton deadweight for the recently founded Cuban National Shipping Company. This company had a working capital of 3 million pound sterling. The Cuban parliament approved the law needed for the founding of the shipping company. The British government was still to approve the order. The edition dated 14 October 1938 however mentioned the building of 13 ships and a floating dock but lacking money were the orders temporarily frozen.
