Building costs 274/434 US dollars. Laid down by the Charleston Dydock&Machine Company, Charleston, South Carolina, USA on 6 February 1929, delivered on 23 June 1930, launched on 22 October 1930, commissioned by the United States Lighthouse Services in 1930. Handed over to the United States Coast Guard in 1939, reclassified WAL-538 in April 1950, reclassified WLV-538 in January 1965, as the Delaware stationed at the moth the Delaware Bay between 1966-1970, decommissioned on 6 January 1971 and handed over to the National Park Service.

With a displacement of 132 tons and as dimensions 40,61 x 9,1 x 4,19 metres or 133.3 x 30 x 13.9 feet. Machinery was diesel-electric and with a horsepower of 350hp was a speed of 9 knots possible. Crew numbered 16 men. During the Second World War armed with 2-2cm quick firing machineguns.
