An item reported that on board of the aged British sloop HMS Basilisk (1) was an invention of a certain lieutenant Metcalf tested which would make it possible to bunker coal at sea. Until now were several successful tests in the harbour executed and now was the device to be executed at sea with the assistance of colliers which followed the fleet. The Basilisk was first destined for Portsmouth and from there join to the Home Fleet.
