Dutch sailing ship Lotos (1910)

Built as the sailing herring fishing lugger Lotos (SCH 445) by Figée, Vlaardingen, Netherlands in 1910 and until 1929 used by the Rederij Roeleveld, Scheveningen, Netherlands. Laid up at Scheveningen and Vlissingen and sold to Norway in 1939 where she was converted into a motor cargo ship. Was named Lotos, Haugland, Sonnodd, Mo, Laredo until she was sold back to the Netherlands named Red Herring. In 1997 converted into a charter ship and renamed Lotos. In 2010 converted into a houseboat.

The Dutch newspaper Rotterdamsch nieuwsblad dated 6 May 1910 reported the launching of the steel built lugger Lotos (SCH445) that morning at 10.30 o’clock for account of C. Roeleveld to be used in the herring and trawling fishery. The Dutch newspaper Het volksdagblad dated 16 February 1939 published an item dated Scheveningen 16th reporting her sale towards Netherlands to be used as a cargo ship. She was described as the last Dutch sailing logger although the last years not used for the herring fishery.
