Thai coastal minelayer Bangrachan (No. 1) 1936-July 1980


Also called a gunboat. Sister ship Nhong Sarhai , the project third vessel was never built. Laid down by Cant. dell’ Adriatico, Monfalcone, Italy in 1935, launched in 19366. Displacement 368 (standard)-408 (full load) tons and as dimensions 160¾ x 26 x 7¼ feet. Armament in the 1950s consisted of 2-3” anti aircraft guns and 2-2cm anti aircraft guns and able to take 14 mines with her. Machinery consisted of Burmeister&Wain diesel engines supplying via 2 shafts 540bhp allowing a speed of 12 knots. With a fuel oil bunker capacity of 18 tons was the range 2.700 nautical miles. Crew numbered 55 men.
