Thai torpedo boat Chunphorn (No. 31) 1936-1975


Building ordered in 1935, laid down by CRDA, Monfalcone, Italy in July 1936, launched on 12 January 1937, completed in October 1938 and stricken in November 1975. Of the Trad-class consisting of the Trad, Puket/Phukey, Patani, Surasdra, Chandaraburi, Rayong, Chunphorn, Chonburi and Songkla, a modified Italian Spica-class design. In 1959 was it a conversion into a anti submarine patrol vessel planned. With a displacement of 318 (standard)-470 (full load) tons and as dimensions 66,8 )between perpendicular)-68.0 (over all) x 6,40 x 2,13 metres. The machinery consisted of Parsons geared steam turbines and 2 Yarrow boilers delivering 9.000 hp via 2 shafts allowing a maximum speed of 31 knots. With a speed of 15 knots and an oil fuel bunker capacity of 102 tons was the range 1.700 nautical miles. Crew numbered 70 men. Armament consisted of3x1-7,6cm cal 40 12 pd Mk I/II/V quick firing guns, 2x1-2cm cal 65 Breda 1939 anti aircraft guns and 6-45cm torpedo tubes (2x2 and 2x1).
