British protected cruiser HMS Katoomba visited the Dutch East Indies in 1906

An item reported that the British cruiser HMS Katoomba visited Tandjong-Priok, Dutch East Indies between 9-11 February 1906.(1)

1. Part of the Pearl-class consisting of the Pearl, Pandora, Pallas, Pelorus, Persian, Philomel, Phoebe, Phoenix and Psyche, preceded by the Barham-class and succeeded by the Apollo-class. Designed by Sir William White (2 February 1845 Plymouth, Devon, England-27 February 1913 London, England). Laid down as the Pandora by Armstrong Whitworth, Elswick, Tyne and Wear, England on 15 August 1888, launched on 2 April 1890, renamed Katoomba when she became flagship of the Auxiliary Squadron of the Australia Station, departed from this station on 16 January 1906 and sold for 8.500 pound sterling on 10 July 1906 to be broken up at Morecambe, England.
