Built by Mitsubishi Jukogyo KK, Yokohama, Japan in October 1937 for Nippon Tankers K.K., Tokyo, Japan. Call sign JWGL. Gross tonnage 8.637 ton, under deck 8.030 ton, net tonnage 6.368 ton and as dimensions 474.9 x 61.0 x 37.5 x 10 (light)-30 (loaded) feet. Identical to the Kaijo Maru laid down on 17 December 1936? Launched on 7 August 1937, completed on 18 October 1937, requisitioned by the Imperial Japanese Navy on 12 November 1941, renamed Kaijo Maru No. 2 GO and sunk on 5 March 1942 130 miles south of Truk by the American submarine USS Grampus (SS-207). 1.163 Nhp diesel machinery.
