The American navy magazine and ordnance works at Washington according to the Senate executive documents 1857-1858

Thanks to the fact that nowadays more and more books are digitized we are able to read books that are some times for decades no longer available for the public for several reasons. That's quite a pity while these books contains useful information while the archives are destroyed, incomplete or nor accessible.

P. 663: “At this station extensive repairs have been put upon the ordnance building and magazine; the foundations for the gun carriage shed have been prepared, and upon these objects there has been expended during the fiscal year for labor $ 4,755.48, and for materials $ 1,638.20; making an aggregate of $ 6,393.68. No further appropriation is required at this yard for the present.”
