British nuclear powered submarine HMS Astute 1997-

Ordered to be build from the company called GEC’s Marconi Marine (nowadays named BAE Systems Submarine Solutions) on 17 March 1997, laid down on 31 January 2001 and launched at Barrow-in-Furness on 8 June 2007. Part of the Astute-class. Her pennant is S 119 and her homeport the British naval base Clyde. With a submerged displacement of 7,400 tonnes are her dimensions 97 x 11,3 x 10 metres or 323’x 37’ x 33’. The PWR2 reactor delivered by Rolls-Royce and MTU 600 Kw diesel generators allows a speed of more as 29 knots while being submerged. Her crew numbers 98 men with another accommodation for another 11 men. Her armament consists of 6-53,3cm torpedo tubes and she carries with her Spearfish torpedoes and maximum 38 Tomahawk Block IV cruise missiles.
