This refrigerated cargo ship was in 1992 built at the yard of Kvaerner Kleven at Ulsteinvik, Norway with hull number 1099 and IMO no. 8917522 for the Great White Fleet belonging to Chiquita. She was in August or October 1902 sold to the Norwegian company Star Reefers Shipowning Incorporation and renamed Tauranga Star with the same IMO no and as MMSI 310129000 and call sign ZCBD9. The management was done by Dobson Fleet Management of Cyprus according to other sources Star Reefers Poland Sp and as dock holder Star Reefers UK ltd. Apparently she uses the flag of Bermuda. Named between 1992 and 1998 Chiquita Frances, in 1998 renamed Frances and got her original name back in 2000. With a displacement of 10,963 tons (deadweight), 4,632 tons NT and 7,944 tons GT were her dimensions 140 x 16 x 8,2 metres. Her speed was 7,3 (medium)-10,6 (maximum) knots.
