The local Dutch newspaper Schiedamsche Courant dated 8 September 1916 published a tiding from Bucharest, Romania that the Romanian government ordered the Ferme yard to start immediately with the building of two 6.000 ton cruisers for her navy. There were also two armoured monitors on stocks.
