Dutch warships Algiers, Amphitrite and Curacao leaving the harbour of Den Helder according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 26 April 1837

Den Helder, 23 April. This morning were the Dutch frigate Zr. Ms. Algiers (1) captain Michielsen and the Amphitrite (2) captain lieutenant Van Tengbergen towed by the Zr. Ms. steamboat Curacao (3) captain lieutenant towards open sea. The first two ships were destined to patrol on the North Sea.

1. Ex-Sambre, frigate 2nd class, on stocks at navy yard at Amsterdam, Netherlands June 1821, launched 1825 (the launching of the frigate Sambre was expected for Wednesday 26 October 1825around 13.00-13.30 o’clock if the weather was sufficient), 1828 razed as 28 guns frigate and renamed Algiers, stricken 1853, 1460 tons displacement 44 guns.
2. A so-called, ‘gladdeks’corvette, on stocks at the navy yard at Vlissingen, Netherlands 1827, launched 1830, reduced to 20-gun corvette 1837, stricken >1851-1852<, 850 tons displacement, 20-32 guns.
3. Paddle steamship 4th class, Netherlands, on stocks at naval yard at Rotterdam, Netherlands 19 August 1845, launched 19 August 1845, stricken 1857, dimensions 40,50m x m x ?, 250hp horsepower.
