Dutch whaler ‘t Genoegen sold at Amsterdam, Netherlands 16 October 1769

Sold on an auction Monday 16 October 1769 in the Nieuwezyds Heeren Logement at Amsterdam the whaler ‘t Genoegen. This extra ordinary seaworthy sailing fluyt ship had as master Jan Inse and was newly fitted out in 1754. Her dimensions were 113½ x 29’2”x 13’0”, the verdeck 6’9” and the S. 8’9” (?) in Amsterdam foot. Costs ƒ 12.600, with and adjudication of ƒ 1.300. A. Swartwout on behalf of his master. Jan Insz was a commandeur in the Strait Davis whale-fishery. He sailed in 1769 in service of Adam Hackman at Amsterdam. His results were 1 whale, 50 barrels whale-blubber and 61½ quardelen train-oil.
