Paris, 16 September. A telegram reported the arrival of the fluyt la Bretonne 13 September at Brest with on board rear admiral baron Hamelin. The frigate la Circe captain Duplessis-Pareseau departed 10 September Rochefort escorting merchant ships and bringing the French consul general of Brazil count de Gestas to Rio Janeiro. According an extract of a letter dated Puerto Santa Maria 6 September published in the newspaper l’Etoile arrived a new division probably coming from la Coruna. A letter from Smyrna dated 2 August reported that the frigate la Medée captain de Rigny the pirate Fazzioli had taken prisoner while the fluyt l’Active and the brig le Silène destroyed two other pirates.
