The newspaper Litauer Rundschau supplied details dealing with the strength of the Soviet armed forces and the military correspondent of the Dutch newspaper used these details for a own item. In his opinion was the navy of less importance as the army. There were two fleets. The Baltic fleet consisted of 4 large battle cruisers of 26,000 tons, 5 old battleships of 10,000-26,000 tons, 4 battle cruisers of 22,50 tons, 5 armoured cruisers, around 0 destroyers, 15 torpedo boats and 40 submarines. The Black Sea fleet consisted of 2 new battleships of 27,300 and 22,600 tons, 5 aged cruisers, 20 destroyers, 14 torpedo boats and 25 submarines. All efforts were done by the government to restore the navy in her old glory supported by the public opinion which was bitter about the British behaviour. Although the value and the discipline of the fleet were in the last years really improved was the available material quite aged and the traditional organisation not altered.
