German naval shipbuilding program according to the Dutch newspaper De Sumatra Post dated 3 December 1930

This newspaper published in the Dutch East Indies supplied in her edition that day more details dealing with the German naval shipbuilding program for the period 1931-1936. The journalist used a schema which was added to the provisional budget for 1931. According to this schema was the ironclad called “Ersatz Preussen” with a total building costs of 76,000,000 German mark to be completed in 1932. With the building of the ironclad” Ersatz Lotharingen” with costs 73,000,000 German mark was started in 1931 and which should be ended in 1934. Further more were planned the “Ersatz Braunschweig” (1931-1936) and the “Ersatz Elzas” (1935-). The cruiser Leipzig (costs 42,000,000 German mark) was to be completed in 1931. Further more were 4 reserve destroyers in 1934, 5 guard vessels in 1931 and 1932 and 5 torpedo boats in 1936 to be laid down. The artillery training vessel “Ersatz Drache” (9,500,000 German mark) was to be completed in 1931 while the building of the artillery training vessel “Ersatz Hay’ was started in 1936.
