The Dutch local newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated 24 December 1868 published an item earlier published in the newspaper La Presse. According to this item consisted the Greek navy pf 36 warships namely one frigate, 2 corvettes, 6 screw steamboats, 1 paddle wheeler and 26 smaller vessels. The Turkish navy consisted of 185 warships including 15 or 18 armoured ships.
