The loss of the French paddle frigate le Groënland according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 10 September 1844

The French steamship Greenland returning from Mogadore was 26 August wrecked on the Moroccan coast.(1) The Bedouins attacked immediately the ship. The French prince de Joinville arrived with another steamship and ordered to set the ship into fire while she couldn't be salvaged. Some French sailors were wounded by Arabian fire and one was killed.
