Peruvian cruiser Coronel Bolognesi 1906-1958



Laid down at Vickers, Barrow, United Kingdom 1905, launched 24 September 1906, commissioned 19 November the same year and stricken 24 June 1958. Her displacement was 3.200 tons standard with as dimensions 377’7”x 40’6” x14’3”. The original 10 Yarrow boilers and 2x4 cylinder vertical triple expansions engines provided 14.000 ihp allowing a speed of 24 knots with a range of 3.700 nautical sea miles at a speed of 10 knots. Oil capacity 500 tons. At Balboa refitted 1923-1925 and modified of oil in stead of coal as fuel. At Yarrows in 1934 fitted out with 8 new boilers. Her crew numbered 320 men. Armed with 2-6” guns, 6-3” guns, 8-3pdrs and 2-18” submerged torpedo tubes, Armour existed of a 1.5” belt, 3” gun shields and a 3” conning tower. In 1936 2-3’ Japanese guns replaced 2-3”(14pdr) guns aft and in after 1942 were 7-0’5” Browning machineguns added to her armament.
