Soviet submarine salvage and rescue ship Alagez 1979-


El’brus-Osminog-class submarine rescue ship Project 537. Her sister ship was the El’brus while a second sister ship the Ayudag never was completed. Laid down at the Chernomorkiy Shipard at Nikolaev in October 1979 with building number 1912, launched on 28 April 1988 and commissioned on 28 January 1989. Word largest ship of this type with a displacement of 12,430 (standard)-14,300 (full load) tons and as dimensions 156,00 (waterline)-175,00 x 24,80 (waterline)-25,10 x 7,50 metres. The armament can exist of a 4x1-30mm guns or a gatling anti aircraft guns. Her crew numbered 312 men and she had accommodation for 106 passengers. Her speed was 17 (sustained)-22 knots and with her range with a speed of 10 knots was 15,000 nautical miles and with 20 knots 5,000 nautical miles and she was equipped to stay for 60 days on sea. She could carry with one Poisk 2-class (Project 1839) or two Priz-class (Project 1855) submarines to able to full fill her salvage and rescue tasks. Further more carried she with her one or two helicopters.
