The capture of the Dutch merchant schooner Maria Frederika by pirates off Bali, Dutch East Indies 9 October 1837 according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 11 July 1838

According to tidings from Ampean (island Lombok) was the Dutch merchant schooner Maria Frederika master J. Gregorij destined towards China 9 October 1837 captured by the North East Corner of Bali by two pirates. A mandoor, a native sailor and a Chinese, all 3 belonging to the crew managed to escape to Bima reporting that the pirates were anchored off the island Satonda (coast of Sumabawa) and the master still prisoner.
