Vlissingen, Netherlands, 22 July. The Dutch corvette Zr.Ms. Hekla commanded by captain lieutenant G.A. Pool arrived the 18th coming from the Mediterranean. (1)
Gibraltar, 1 July. The naval Colombian force in the Mediterranean was increased with some warships and privateer. The day before yesterday burnt a Colombian goelette of war a Spanish ship in sight of Algeziras. The newspaper Correo Marcanni of Cadiz reported recently that the Colombian privateer Generaal Santander was captured by 2 privateers of Carthagena but later denied that news. O’Donnell at Algeziras intended to execute 6 Colombian sailors but a Colombian brig of war which was at that time at Gibraltar warned for reprisals having on board a large number of Spanish prisoners. O’Donnell was now waiting for new instructions. A Colombian goelette blockaded the entrance of the port of Ceuta preventing the providing of the garrison with victuals.
Cadiz, 28 June. Quite of lot of merchants in this town were stopping with their business. They intended to move from Spain while a trade shipping with the new world wasn’t possible any more caused by the capturing of all Spanish merchant ships by the privateers.
