Due to the arrival of 14 rich loaded European ships and one Moorish coming from Surat was the trade stressed and the rents of the factory considerable increased. The cargo of the ships Huis den Eult, Langewijk and Noordwijkerhout, consisting of cash money, silver, species, rice, cochenille, lead, tib, sandal- en sapanwood, pepper and cloths with a total value of fl. 949.263 was sold with a gross profit of fl. 304.059, with fl. 71.402 costs. The Huis den Eult, loaded with 439.723 lb tea, 3800 pieces of silk and 126.618 lb spiaulter, with a total value of 500.000 Dutch guilders, passed Sunda Strait 2 February. The Langewijk and Noordwijkerhout were loaded with cargo’s valued fl. 360.496 and fl. 95.303, consisting of porcelain, tea, silk, rhubarb destined for the Netherlands, spiaulter, corn, radix china, quicksilver for Coromandel, alum for Batavia, gold-bars with a value of fl. 84.412 and resting merchandise valued fl. 138. Total value of the cargo’s brought back from China was fl. 1.181.921.
