Norwegian torpedo boat Skarv (1907-1942)



Built in 1907 at Karl Johans Verksted, Horten, Norway in 1907.Captured by surprise by German forces in Egersund on 10 April 1940 and sunk on 27 September 1942. With a displacement of >90-92< tons were her dimensions 134½ x 14¾ x 7‘. The armament consisted of 2-3pdrs and 3-18” torpedo tubes (one bow and two afterwards on deck). The engines provided 1,700 ihp allowing a speed of 25 knots with a coal bunker capacity of 16 tons. The crew numbered 21 men.

According to Conway's All the World's Fightings Ships 1906-1921 was she launched on 18 February 1907 and broken up in 1940. The 1,741 ihp supplied by one vertical triple expansion engine and 2 boilers allowed a speed of 25,9 knots. She belonged to the Teist-class with as sister ships the Kjell and the Teist. The armement consisted of 2-47mm guns and 3-457mm torpedo tubes (1x bow, 2xdeck). The dimensions were 134'10" x 15'5" x 7'7". The edition 1922-1946 confirmed the capture in 1940.
