The Russian naval strength according to the Dutch newspaper Vlissingse Courant dated 7 May 1885

The Russian navy consisted of 30 ironclads, 26 non armoured cruisers, 24 gunboats, 34 schooners, 114 torpedo boats, 17 yachts, 15 transports and tugs, 158 smaller ships and 2 sailing corvettes. Further more were 8 steamships of the so-called voluntary fleet and 3 auxiliary cruisers.
