Costs of building Russian warships in 1778

In the Union Magazine of July 1801 is a small note published, dealing with the costs of building warships for the Russian navy. Such information is not common known or available. So its' worth to mention it on this weblog.

p. 18; "In a statement of the Russian navy, drawn up in the year 1778, the expense of building and fitting out their vessels of war is as follows, in French money:
A ship of 100 guns costs 647,370 French francs
A ship of 80 guns costs 549,930 French francs
A ship of 66 guns costs 15,100 French francs?, apparently wrong amount
A ship of 54 guns costs 210,390 French francs
A frigate of 32 guns costs 89,325 French francs
There is no reason to suppose that the price of raw materials and workmanship has been materially increased to the Russian government since that period."
