Dutch coastal minesweeper Hr.Ms. Giethoorn (M 815) 1953-1993
Of the wood-built Dokkum-class. On stocks at the yard of L. Smit&Zn. at Kinderdijk on 22 December 1953, launched on 30 March 1955 and commissioned on 29 March 1956 as the Giethoorn with the pennant M 815. She was built for American account in the Mutual Defence Assistance Program as the MSC 179. Displacement 425 ton with as dimensions 46,62 x 8,78 x 2,00 meter. The two diesel engines provided totally 2.500 ship while driven two turnable screws allowing a speed of 14 miles. Her crew numbered 41 men while she was armed with 2-40mm machine guns. Sold on 23 December 1993 to R. Zorn, Haarlem, Netherlands for ƒ 8.030,-.
