Turkey buying German battleships according to the Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië daily edition dated 2 December 1910

In the Turkish senate was the buying of two German battleships discussed. The members were quite angry buying these ships so haste and lacking any fighting value. The grand vizier defended the decision while she was favourable for the Turkish defence regarded what was going on in the world.(1)

1. According to Conway’s All the world’s fighting ships 1806-1921 were these the German Brandenburg-class battleships Kurfürst Friederich Wilhelm and the Weissenburg bought on 12 September and renamed Heireddin Barbarossa and Torgud Reis.
