Austrian armoured cruiser Kaiser Karl IV 1896-1920’s

Laid down on 1 June 1896 at the yard of Stabilimento Tecnico Triestino at Trieste, Italy, launched 4 October 1898, building was completed on 23 May 1900, 1920 transferred towards England, from there sold towards Italy and finally scrapped in the twenties. With a displacement 6166 tons were the dimensions 386’10” (waterline)-390’3” (over all) x 56’10”x 22’2” or 117,9 (waterline)-118.96 (over all) x 17,27 x 6,75 metres. The 2-4 cylinder vertical triple expansion engines supplied 12,000 ihp allowing a speed of 20,83 knots. Her crew numbered 535 men. The armament consisted of 2x1-24cm guns, 8x1-15cm guns, 18-4,7cm quick firing guns, 2-08.cm machine guns, 2-7cm so-called landing guns and 2-45cm torpedo tubes in the beam. The armament consisted of a 17-22cm thick belt, a 4-6cm deck while the turrets were protected by 20cm, the conning tower by 10-20 cm and the casemates by 8cm thick armour.
