Movements of the Greeks and Turkish navies according the Dutch newspaper Goessche Courant dated 2 November 1821

Ron van Maanen

In a news item dated Florence 13 October was a tiding coming from Corfu dated 27 September published. The last ships which arrived at Corfu take bad news for the Grecians with them. The Turkish already embarked at two places at Morea troops, destroying on a large scale the surroundings. Another division of the Turkish fleet departed 20 September Zante towards Patras for a third landing. Some Grecian ships cruising off Missolunghu were burnt by the Turkish. There is nothing heard anymore from the Grecian fleet; according to some rumours she is disappeared after some unsuccessful efforts leaving the Archipelago to the Turkish. The latter was reinforced by squadrons from Egypt and Tunis and waiting for Alger. At Coron landed 7.000 men and the fortress was supplied with fresh victuals.
