Naval strength of Dutch East India Company in the East Indies 26 October 1620

De Jonge published in his books several lists dealing with the naval strength of the Dutch E.I.C. For foreigners the main problem is that the books are written in Dutch and not always available in their countries. For this list he used the so-called Brieven en papieren overgekomen uit Oost-Indien, S Ao. 1620, part of the archive of the E.I.C., kept in the National Archive at The Hague. In facts he published two lists, which I combined to the one below.

For defence activities and actions against the enemy at Manila, Philippines. The St. Michiel was ordered to make first a voyage towards Cabo de Spirito Sancto and afterwards join the other four ships, the Nieuw Bantam, Trouwe, Haerlem, Hope and St. Michiel.
Towards Japan for rice and the trade towards Cochinchina the Eendracht, Engel and Tholen.
Towards Cabo de Spirito Sancto to cruise for the so-called silver ships of Acapulco the Swane (captured from the British), Expeditie (captured from the British) and St. Michiel.
In the Moluccas the Nieuwe Maen, yacht Ternate and the Engelsen hondt also called Hondt (captured from the British).
Towards Patany, Cambodja and Siam the Sampson (captured from the British), Zeewolff, Galiasse, Morgensterre (needed to go to the harbour) and the yachts Vos and Hollandia.
Towards Jamby the Dolphijn (needed to go to the harbour), frigate Ceylon, the captured yacht Nassouw (needed to go to the harbour) and the yachts Jager and Neptunis (needed to go to the harbour).
Daily expected coming from the West Coast of Sumatra the yacht 't Herdt and the Postpaert.
Towards Suratte and Mocha the Wapen van Zeelandt.
Towards the coast of Coromandel the N. Zeelant and Enchuisen.

Towards Atchin and from there to the coast of Coromandel the Medenblick and the Engelsen beer (captured from the British).
Towards Palembang for wood, rice and other needed stores the Wapen van Amsterdam (needed to go to the harbour) and Cleen Amsterdam.
Off Bantam the Oude Sonne (needed to go to the harbour), Goede Fortuijne and Attendance (captured from the British).
Off Jacatra the Groot Amsterdam, Bergerboot (needed to go to the harbour), Wapen van Enckhuisen, Schiedam, Groene Leeuw (needed to go to the harbour), Dragon, junk Dolphijn and the yachts Jortan and Tijger.
At Amboina the galley and the frigate Amboina.
At Solor the frigate Malacca.

Anchored on the shore of Banda the ship Oudt Hoorn.
