Patrol ship Tjaldrid of the Faeroe Islands (1976) 1987->2000


This was originally a merchant tug build in 1976 at the yard of Solvaer, Verksted, Norway and in 1987 purchased by the Landsstyri. With a displacement og 650 (full load) tons are the dimensions 44,5 x 10,1 x 3,2 metres or 146 x 33.1 x 10.5 feet. The 2 MWM diesels supplies 2,400 hp allowing a speed of 14,5 knots. The crew numbers 18 men excluded 4 divers. The armament could consist 2cm gun, originally a 5,7cm gun.

The website www.naypedia.org descrived her as serving as patrol vessel fot the coast guard and fishery protection with as homeport Tórshavn, Strømø Island.Dimensions 44,5 x 10,1 x 4,0 metres and a displacement of 650 tons. She was also fitted out with a decompression chamber.

The website www.shipsotting.com calls her a tug build in 1976 at the yard Svolvaer Mekaniske Verksted at Svolvaer, Norwar with a displacment of 453 tons.
