The Turkish navy and Russian merchant trade shipping in the Black Sea according to the Dutch newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated 2 August 1777

Constantinople, 17 June. The fleet commanded by the Captain Pasha was competent enough to prevent Russian ships entering the entrance to the Black Sea and which with an increasing number were threatening the Turkish trade shipping over there.
