An item dated Washington 19 February reported that the chairman of the House of Representatives recommended to the plenary session a ten years fleet program to provided the replacement of 54 ‘auxiliary’ ships with a total tonnage of 221,000 ton costs around 175.000.000 US dollars. Among these ships were gunboats, 1 hospital ship, 15 minelayers, 1 freighter, 4 aircraft carriers, a submarine mother ships and some tugs.
