Mine laying submarines offered by Dutch shipyard Kon.Mij. De Schelde at Vlissingen, Netherlands to Portuguese navy in 1931

Schelde-Gunning minelayer submarine design for Brazil 

On 27 January 1931 sent a tender to the Department of Navy at Lisbon, Portugal for building two submarines with diesel engines or 2x900 ehp and 16 knots speed costs 180.550 pond sterling or as a second option with diesel engines or 2x1.200 ehp and 17 knots speed for 184.950 pond sterling excluded torpedoes, mines, periscopes and so on. First submarine to delivered within 25 and the second one within 38 months. With a displacement of 755 (surfaced)-960 (submerged) and as dimensions 68,5 x 5,2 x 4,4 metres. On 26 March was a new tender sent. The price for 2 submarines 2x900 bhp was 314.628 pond sterling and 2x1.200 bhp 322.514 pond sterling. In both cases the tender was dealing with a hulls machinery equipment complete as specified but without the frigerating plant, mine cylinders and specified devices and equipment like the torpedoes.
