New boilers for Spanish gunboat Infanta Isabel ccording to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwe Tilburgsche Courant dated 10 April 1909

An item reported that the order for the delivery of four boilers for the gunboat Infanta Isabel (1) would be public adjudged in the presence of Junta Superior de la Armada. The temporary estimate was 163.082,19 pesetas and the security 6,528 pesetas.

1. This must be the unprotected cruiser Infanta Isabel of the Velasco-class which was launched on 26 June 1885 at Cadiz, rebuild in 1911 and stricken in 1927. With a displacement of 1,152 tons and as dimensions 64,00 (between perpendiculars) x 9,75 x 4,20 (maximum) metres or 210’ x 32’ x 13’8”. The original one shaft horizontal compound and four boilers supplied 1,500 ihp allowing a speed of 13 knots while she had a coal bunker capacity of 220 tons. The crew numbered 173 men and the armament consisted of 4-4.7” guns, 4-6pdrs, 1 machinegun and 2-14” torpedo tubes.
