Spanish merchant shipbuilding according to the Dutch newspaper Dagblad van het Oosten dated 9 September 1942

The Spanish department for shipping reported that at that moment 187 ships with total building costs of 736.000.000 peseta’s were being build in Spain increasing the loading capacity of the Spanish merchant fleet with 205,000 tons. These shipbuilding included 8 tankers of 8,700 tons, 11 freighters with 28,000 tons and 21 freighters and colliers with 53,000 tons. The remaining capacity was divided over coasters and fishing boats.
