An item dated Naples 10 September supplied more details about the events at Algiers caused by lord Exmouth 1). The official Neapolitan government newspaper published some messages of Exmouth written while he was on board of the HMS Queen Charlotte on 31 August anchored in the Bay of Algiers and which were brought to Naples by the HMS Severn. Exmouth wrote that the expedition was successful and that he send with the Severn 357,000 piasters all ready paid by the Neapolitan government but which could be given back. On the evening of 30 August were 707 Neapolitan or Sicilian slaves embarked on board of two transports who were to depart on 1 September.
