The Dutch dredger Bromo build at Haarlem according to the Dutch newspaper Haarlem’s Dagblad dated Wednesday 30 March 1910

That morning was the dredger Bromo build on behalf of the Department of Colonies busy with her trials at the North Sea. She was destined to serve in the Dutch East Indies.(1)

1. The newspaper Rotterdamsch Nieuwsblad dated 7 April reported that she left IJmuiden on 5 April towards Tandjong Priok. The newspaper Het nieuws van den dag dated 20 April published an item dated Lisbon 17 April that her engine just suffered small damage which could be repaired within 3 days. The edition dated 9 May published an item dated Port Saïd 5 May reporting that in the chartroom a fire levels was exploded damaging this room and some charts. The Rotterdamsch Nieuwsblad dated 7 May reported that’s she arrived on 4 May at Port Saïd and she was slightly damaged caused by an explosion in the chartroom wwhich could be repaired within 3 days. The newspaper Rotterdamsch Nieuwsblad dated 24 May reported that she arrived on 21/22 May at Aden. The evening edition of the Algemeen Handelsblad dated 23 May reported her passing Aden on 22 May. The newspaper Het nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië dated 21 June reported the arrival in the Dutch East Indies. Apparently she was brought by Wijsmuller via Amsterdam and Aden. The newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad morning edition dated 6 April 1910 called her abusively Bruno.
