Fitting out of French transport towards Tonkin according to the Dutch newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated 25 December 1882

An item reported that at Toulon orders were received to fit out a transport for transporting reinforcements to Tong-king.(1)

1. Tonkin also spelled as Tongkin, Tonquin or Tongking is the northern part of what is nowadays Vietnam. After the war between France and China in the years 1884-1885 became Tonkin a French protectorate just like Annam and Cochinchina.
