USA selling merchant ships to England according to the Dutch newspaper Delftsche Courant dated 6 January 1940

An item dated New York 6 January reported that the British department for the merchant navy requested the USA Maritime Commission for permission to buy six American merchant ships. According to sources used by the American newspaper New York Times was this request likely to be granted.
