An Austrian floating battery for the defence of Venice according to the Dutch newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated 20 October 1860

An item reported that the Austrian government concerned with the strengthening the defence of Venice especially against sea attacks. A tiding from  Augsburg dated the 7th published in the newspaper Algemeine Zeitung of Augsburg reported that a floating battery armed with 16 guns of a very large calibre was built to defend the harbour.
